Last year Satellites & Sirens burst onto the Christian music scene with their hit song "Anchor," which to my knowledge is still being played on the radio today. I quickly fell in love with Satellites & Sirens and I have been highly anticipating their sophomore release ever since. Frequency is pretty much everything I thought it was going to be. The lyrics are really great and the beats are phenomenal. One thing I love about this band is that Geoff Hunker's voice is one of those that you do not have to grow accustomed to; it is automatically one that you will fall in love with.
The album starts out with the really upbeat techno pop song "Run Away." This is another one of those songs that will quickly get stuck in your head and one you will find yourself singing out loud, most likely during awkward moments. Well, at least that is what happens to me all the time. I think all my friends are tired of me singing about running away! However, "Run Away" is an instant classic and has quickly become one of my favorites on the album as well as out of all their other songs.
"Frequency" is like that kid in school who is just a little bit different than everybody else and seems to go to his own beat. The song has a different feel to it than any other song on the album and different than any other song I have heard in a while. I really like it, especially the chorus, but it just seems to be a little bit different (a good different). The song is really upbeat just like almost every other Satellites & Sirens and almost just as catchy as "Run Away."
The third song "Let It Go" has one of the best beats on the whole album. The beat is very uptempo but at the same time the song seems to be very emotion-filled. The words to the song make me wonder what happened to make them write this song. It is one of those songs you really wonder what the inspiration was behind the song.
The first single from the album "Ready To Save" seems to be a song perfect for the radio. As I listened to this song I kept thinking how amazing it is and I kept thinking that I hope they release it to the radio. Then I looked it up and I saw that it has been released to the radio, so your favorite Christian radio station may be playing this song in the near future! "Ready To Save" has the potential to do really well on the radio and reach the top of the charts for Christian music. I love the lyrics to this song so much. The bridge at the end of the song is oh so beautiful and probably my favorite bridge on any song right now.
Probably the best song on the entire album is towards the very end and it is the song "Makeup." There is something about the chorus that is very pleasing to my ears. The words to the song are very well written as well and very true. I think as soon as you hear the chorus to "Makeup" you will instantly fall in love like I did. This song is extremely catchy and another one that I go around singing all the time now.
Satellites & Sirens does not disappoint at all with their latest album Frequency. I have listened to this album over-and-over again and I cannot really find anything wrong with it. I am super excited for Satellites & Sirens as a band and I think they have a lot of talent. I would love to see the band become really popular. I know that I for one am going to be pumping up this album to all my friends and trying to get them to buy it and you should too! You will not regret it!
Favorite Song: Makeup
Favorite Lyrics: "When did you stop believing there was hope for you? When will you realize you will make it through? There is a love you've been waiting for. There is an answer. There is a cure. There is a healer who's ready to save you. He's ready to save you. He's ready to save." (From the song "Ready To Save")
